Hello! I'm Jessie, a multidisciplinary designer with a particular passion for narratives in moving-image, publication design, and image-making. I enjoy creating projects that are centered on human connection and experience through the multitude of ways we navigate the world together. Through my work, I hope audiences can be reminded of their own life experiences and spark personal reflection!
A personal exploration of the relationship between the internet and reality, as they’ve become intrinsically linked. The boundaries have blurred. It doesn’t seem feasible to go back. Embracing change and encouraging personal balance and reflection, this audio-visual piece aims to detangle the various threads connecting and influencing our lives.
Focusing on the importance of physical ritual in a digital age, Take A Moment aims to reconnect people with the tactile nature of the real world. The publication highlights the benefits of rituals, offering an alternative to distracting social media use. Beginning with an appealing, focused image that devolves into an overlap of chaotic screens, displaying how you may begin to mindlessly scroll through feeds.
I bound the publication within the last fold of the leporello, acting as a physical intervention against doomscrolling habits. Museum archival language is used to make objects appear as antiquity, as physical rituals have fallen to the wayside due to technology. I created watercolor paintings for this publication as it is a slow process in contrast to the fast-paced digital landscape. Personal quotes demonstrate the intimate human experience of rituals.
