Niamh Murphy

Hi! My name is Niamh Murphy. I am multidisciplinary designer based in Dublin. Throughout my years of studying at TU Dublin, I have developed a strong passion for designing with and for local communities using design as a tool to address local issues and create meaningful impact. The work I have produced is based on emotional resonance, shaping visual outcomes around the connections a target audience forms with a topic. I am particularly interested in image-making, branding, visual identity, and strategic design alignment. By utilizing tools such as Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Premiere Pro which I use to bring concepts to life across a variety of media and platforms. Combining research with creative exploration, I aim to produce designs that are both visually compelling and deeply relevant to their context.

Through the Window

A campaign for the Finglas local rehab centre. The Finglas Addiction Support Team (FAST) was established in 2004 by a small group of volunteers. A staple within the community creating a comfortable space for people affected by addiction.
An analysis, noticing visual communication issues within the visual identity, this project aims to rectify this by making it easily accessible for the friends and family of people affected by addiction.
The team has stated that the main barrier is getting people through the door as they don’t know what to expect from FAST. My project aims to highlight the welcoming experience received by making the environment familiar. This is tackled by using elements of the building as a visual identity through using the windows to reveal information.

Over the Irish Sea

This publication focuses on Irish storms and the sea, tying in weather related superstitions for an Irish cultural aspect to evoke caution for storms and the sea in a lighthearted manner. This will coincide with visuals from different types of weather and marine forecasts to enhance the text, an abstract idea for how these forecasts look for the audience.
