Woman isn’t Object
Objectification is where one is perceived as less human by being treated as an object of desire that another can possess. A minimum of 70% of women all over the world experience direct objectification on a regular basis. This includes street harassment, groping, unwelcome comments that make them feel less human and assaulted. These direct experiences of objectification can have a severe impact on a woman's mental stability, feelings of violation, and may have psychological effects such as eating disorders, depression and sexual dysfunction as well as fearing how others look at them. Many do not realise that one comment or experience can ruin, not just a day, but have a lifelong impact. This project highlights how harassment affects women when they are treated as ‘object.’
