“Renaissance”
As the Renaissance period emerges as a new, rich source of inspiration for summer, a newfound appreciation for pre-tech times will see classic artwork re-referenced. Decedent renaissance paintings are reinterpreted across design, juxtaposed against modern T-shirts, denim and sportswear for a contemporary comment on culture. Rather than using the dark atmospheric palettes associated with Old Master paintings, I opted for vibrant tones on light grounds for newness. Engraved cherubs highlight the return of this design feature while contrasting with bold colours for a fresh perspective. The aim of this project was to highlight the return of this renaissance period across design, taking inspiration from Spring/Summer 2019 trends.
