The Grand Herbert Hotel & Spa
The aim of this project is to convert a building that is a Post-Modernist interpretation of Georgian architecture, into a luxury 5-star boutique hotel while taking inspiration from the style in 18th and 19th century Persia (Iran) as well as Georgian style during this period. This is the first hotel designed that combines both of these styles that are known for their different features respectively. I wanted to design a hotel that exudes luxury and provides guests with an unforgettable experience giving them an opportunity to indulge in their desire for tranquillity and lavishness. The building that I chose is located in Dublin City, which is a primary location for tourists to sight-see and experience all that Dublin has to offer, yet it is not located in the hustle and bustle of the City, allowing residents to relax. The hotel contains many amenities for guests to experience, including a wine tasting cellar, cinema hubs and a spa where they can unwind and receive traditional Persian treatments. The building’s concept idea came from Orsi windows which are Persian style stained-glass windows and their pattern. As they are intricately detailed, there was careful consideration in the pattern used throughout the building, there are different variations of the main concept throughout that compliment the building’s stunning Georgian architecture.
