Sustainable Waterproofing
The project goal was to develop sustainable waterproof apparel. My design utilises alternate manufacturing techniques and materials to create a waterproof jacket for an environmentally conscious user.
The outdoor equipment industry has experienced a sustainability overhaul in recent years, with environmentally conscious brands and supply chains now expected. With a movement towards a more eco outlook, a considerable outlier is the humble waterproof jacket.
Current jackets use destructive manufacturing processes. While this is sufficiently waterproof, it is not feasible to recycle as the materials are fused and raw material is inseparable. I have created a jacket designed for disassembly and recycling while maintaining functional performance requirements.
