SafeT

This project is a system designed to prevent warehouse accidents between workers and forklifts. The system comprises of two main elements, an operator worn tag and a base unit mounted on the forklift in use. The tag is a passive system, mounted on the back of a reflective vest. This is then merely worn by the staff member as they go about their daily tasks. The forklift mounted base unit is programmed to repeatedly scan for these tags as the forklift operator carries out the task at hand. The system alerts the operator should a staff member come within the 5-metre radius set on the system itself.

The operator can then choose to stop the forklift and check for a potential collision or cancel the alert on screen should they be expecting someone. The system in non-intrusive and operates smoothly in the background. It’s a way of reducing accidents without the intrusion and time waste that comes with slow zones or pedestrian management systems. The system can also be equipped to any visitor or auxiliary person who may be coming into the work area, simply by putting on a tagged reflective vest. The number of vests is limitless, and the system is retrofit to the forklift via an ignition powered source on the fuse panel. The system can be implemented quickly and efficiently to a workplace, providing peace of mind and reducing the risk of accidents.
