Revolut Headquarters

Originally based in London, Revolut is the world's first truly global financial app. In 2015, Revolut launched in the UK offering money transfers and exchanges. It expanded its offices around the world, including New York, Berlin, and Singapore. Well known for operating online only, the proposed thesis project aims to design the Revolut Headquarters including its first physical bank from a unique perspective. The main idea is to reflect the philosophy and character of the organization into the building with excellent working conditions and spatial qualities that would stimulate efficiency and identity. All spaces will be designed for the work environment's interactive and communicative philosophy. The final design should offer a unique experience not only for employees but customers too.

In considering this, the chosen building is located in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Situated adjacent to the celebrated Belfast Waterfront Hall and the Hilton Hotel, forming part of the successful Lanyon Place/Mays Meadow development. This 12-story, Grade A building is currently the 7th tallest building in Belfast. It contains a multi-story car park comprising 130 spaces. The structure enjoys an excellent location with easy access to all public transport. The building has great potential not only because of its location but because is a well-recognized and respected piece of architecture within the Belfast cityscape. The main entrance is a prime location at the head of Lanyon Place, which offers an enjoyable experience of the building at street level. The high number of floors allows for a variety of spaces to be developed within the building.

To achieve this modern financial institution, immense research in high-tech design and other experience-based office designs was needed. The main idea was to create an open-plan workspace and highlight the flexibility through the interior. Transparency will be a key feature to sustain not only the idea of an open space layout but to create a bright interior where the amount of daylight will be maximized as much as possible. The design will be based on an ideal workgroup, so the communal spaces will be connected through an internal route. The locations of all functions will be very carefully balanced between the different floors to create the perfect layout for an efficient workspace.

"We believe that any success at Revolut comes from two things: our people and our culture. We believe that brilliant people operating in a great culture will produce the best outcome." - Revolut Team
